Irene Pena

I studied photography at Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California. In 1993, after completing my studies, I returned to Costa Rica and worked in advertising photography for four years. I felt that I had to continue developing my fashion portfolio so I moved back to Los Angeles in 1998.

At the time, Los Angeles was starting to become an important area for fashion design. It was a great experience since I met and worked with various talented designers, such as Nikolaki and Louis Verdad, whose work is highly recognized and respected within the US fashion industry. I also had the opportunity to collaborate in photographic projects with the Coalition of Los Angeles Designers (C.L.A.D.) and Gen Art L.A.

I returned to Costa Rica in 2002, where I have been creating interesting photography projects, working in collaboration with costarican fashion designers and artists.
